DESCRIPTION:Attention dancers ages 10-22! Glorify Dance Theatre Prep Company will hold it’s summer ballet intensive June 16-20 at Time To Leap Dance Center in West Chester\, PA from 9:30am-3:30pm. Throughout the week\, there will be daily technique classes and pre-professional training in ballet\, time spent learning choreography\, devotions to encourage dancers in their faith\, as well as technique classes in jazz\, contemporary\, modern\, and improv. On Friday\, June 20th\, there will be a black box style performance for parents from 3:15pm-3:45pm which gives the dancers the opportunity to use what they learned over the week and inspire others in their faith through the medium of dance. Attendees should have a minimum of 3 consecutive years of training in ballet since the age of 7\, and dancers desiring to participate in pointe class should have at least 1 year of training en pointe.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as we dig into history with archaeological excavations at Newlin Grist Mill and learn more about the site through the evidence under our feet! \nThe public is invited to participate (or just watch) as Newlin Grist Mill’s professional archaeologist\, Keith Doms\, and a dedicated corps of archaeology volunteers seek to gain a deeper understanding of the site’s history through careful excavation using scientific techniques and thorough documentation. Depending on the day\, visitors might be invited to help screen excavated soil to look for small artifacts or assist with cleaning artifacts that have already been excavated. \nExcavations this season are planned for the Trimble farm complex in the Historic Area. The Trimble family built their house on the property adjoining the Mill in 1739 and\, over time\, built a whole complex of structures to support the operations of their household and farm. By conducting archaeological studies in the area around the Trimble House\, the Newlin Grist Mill staff hopes to learn more about the people who lived and worked there in the 18th\, 19th\, and early 20th centuries. \nScheduled 2025 Public Archaeology Days:\nMarch 15\nApril 19\nMay 17\nJune 21\nJuly 19\nOctober 18 – International Archaeology Day \n10am-3pm. Free and open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). No reservations are required. If you would like to help out with the dig\, be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toed footwear. Bring work gloves if you have them; the site has a limited number of pairs to lend.

This bilingual Bridge Session\, “Fandango” is presented by Latin American fusion band Guachinagos\, and is recommended for families with children ages 5 and up. Come make music with us! \nStudents of our Bridge Sessions say: \n“My favorite memory was hearing the music we created.”\n“all of it was a good memory for me”\n“I just really enjoyed the music and the band was just really great.”\n“It made me feel so content.” \nCumbia with a Mexican Jarocho flavor\, Guachinangos features members from diverse cultural backgrounds. The band fuses Mexican son jarocho with Colombian cumbia and other Latin American rhythms. Their exciting instrumentation and electrifying stage energy invites anybody to enjoy\, sing and move to the rhythm of the music. \nBridge Sessions are our signature education programs\, welcoming participants to the venue for a fully interactive live music experience. We team up with a diverse group of artists to design immersive performances complete with professional sound and lighting. Attendees get to actively participate in live music-making and engage in a Q&A session with the artists\, leaving feeling inspired and empowered. \nWorld Cafe Live is a nonprofit independent venue dedicated to live music\, education\, and community engagement. The 3rd Anniversary Open Mic will take place at the cozy and historic Quig’s Pub\, located above Plays & Players Theatre in the heart of Center City’s Rittenhouse neighborhood.\nFounded in 2022 by artists Emily Schuman\, Kat Rivers\, and James Haro\, Going Acoustic open mic was born out of a desire to create a consistent\, supportive home for songwriters\, poets\, and storytellers to share work-in-progress and original material. Since then\, it’s become a cherished quarterly ritual for local artists and audiences alike.\nThe anniversary event on June 23 will feature a curated lineup of past and present favorites\, including Laura and the Storm\, Maria Mirenzi\, and other surprise guests. Expect acoustic sets\, collaborative moments\, and the signature speakeasy atmosphere that makes Quig’s feel like a living room jam session with Philly’s most talented voices.\n“Going Acoustic at Quigs is a perfect representation of the open mic scene in Philadelphia. Maria sings you a story with hazy\, emotive vocals and an electric guitar in hand\, hoping that you can relate. Her songwriting is semi-autobiographical\, haunting yet whimsical\, constantly bouncing between hope and despair. NMUSN Curator Gordon Calhoun and ASHM Curator Brett Peters will circulate in the exhibit throughout the evening to discuss this fascinating aspect of industrial naval history and its Swedish connections. \nThe reception is free and open to the public with remarks at 5:45 pm.
