SUMMARY:The Great Philadelphia Comedy Magic Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Something Magical this Way Comes! October is the month of magic in fact the last week of the month is National Magic Week and October 31 is National Magic Day. National Magic Day came about after the death of Harry Houdini who died on that day in 1926. If you are in the mood for magic\, try a unique Philly experience called\, “The Great Philadelphia Comedy Magic Walking Tour”. It is a blend of a walking history tour and a walking magic show\, complete with a seance trick in an alley called “Little Boys Court”\, where the spirits of the dead are contacted. DESCRIPTION:Do corrupt leaders\, a government corporatized\, and bureaucratic stupidity…sound familiar? Take a look at the modern world through the musical and comedic genius of Gilbert and Sullivan! \nPolitical satire\, excerpted from G&S comic operas including: “H.M.S. Pinafore”\, “The Yeomen of the Guard”\, and the rarely performed but visionary “Utopia\, Limited”\, is fresh for today’s discourse.  Join Aurora Classical and let your voice be heard! \nDetails \nRun Time: 75 minutes\, no intermission \nSeptember 27\, 2025\, at 4:00 pm\nFirst Unitarian Church of Philadelphia\, 2125 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia\, PA 19103. \nThis event is part of the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. \nClick https://phillyfringe.org/events/dystopia-gilbert-and-sullivan-style/ for more info or to RSVP. \n  \nGeneral Admission: $25 \nPay what you can (PWYC) Options \nAurora Classical [https://auroraclassical.org/] was founded in 2015 to create classical music without all the perceived pretense that can get in the way of its enjoyment. Our dual goal is to make the classical music repertory accessible to all\, whether to first-time listeners or experienced audiences\, and to provide opportunities for our talented local artists. We believe everyone can enjoy classical music\, and we strive to give freelance musicians the opportunity to share that joy as much as possible! Our name was inspired by a newspaper publication founded by Benjamin Franklin Bache called the Philadelphia Aurora. Bache was a grandson of Benjamin Franklin\, and his paper stood for the rights of “plain folk.” Our focus is on sharing quality music with low-income communities. Classical music is for everyone regardless of your budget! \n  \nAurora Classical of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia [https://auroraclassical.org/]

SUMMARY:My Body Your Eyes - Philly Fringe Festival
DESCRIPTION:My Body Your Eyes \nRuns September 28\, 2025 at Old First Reformed Church\, 151 N 4th Street\, Philadelphia\, PA 19106 \n  \nPHILADELPHIA\, PA: Western New York mulit-choreographer performance Your Eyes My Body comes to the historic Old First Reformed Church for one performance on Sunday\, September 28\, 2025 at 5:30 PM as part of the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Featuring Nancy Hughes\, M Neild\, Laura D’Amico\, and MahataMmoho Collective\, the work invites audiences into a shared exploration of resistance\, reverence and ritual. Doors open at 5:00 PM. \n“I have both a chip on my shoulder about Western New York and a deep passion for the work made here. Our dance community can be a mix of interludes and stories of betrayals\, but it’s also spacious and gives dance room to incubate in the inner world\, like snow covering in Buffalo\, NY. I’m excited for these choreographers to connect with a wider performance art community and expand our conversation.” – Nancy Hughes \nMY BODY YOUR EYES is a trove of duets and solos. “If she is the storm\, is she also the shelter” is a duet choreographed and performed by Nancy Hughes in collaboration with M Neild\, inspired by intimate hierarchical relationships. The solo “It’s only human / nature” is by M Neild. It explores the duality of humanity’s relationship with nature-both the reverent awe we hold for its beauty and power\, and the devastation we inflict upon it. Laura D’Amico has a new solo\, performed nude inside a transparent five-sided box\, drawn from her Fulbright research in Italy. A Community-rooted ritual by MahataMmoho Collective explores unity and collaboration performed by Arjumand Ali and his dance partner. \n  \nTickets to My Body Your Eyes are currently on sale by visiting fringearts.com. Admission is $15 with a sliding scale beginning at $5. More information on Center Mouvement can be found at www.centermouvement.com\, and via Facebook at www.facebook.com/centerdancebuffalo.
