SUMMARY:Healing in the Garden: Art\, Plants\, and Medicine at Bartram’s Garden
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Garden for a conversation about healing across time\, place\, and practice. Set inside America’s oldest surviving botanical garden\, this special event brings together artist Terrence Gore\, herbalist and urban forager Lady Danni Morinich\, and Dr. Burton of Burton Wellness & Injury Center for a thoughtful discussion on the many ways nature has shaped our understanding of medicine\, resilience\, and care.\nModerated by WHYY’s Maiken Scott\, the conversation will begin with a panel exploring art as a form of healing\, the wisdom and usefulness of plants growing all around us\, and the connection between traditional\, alternative\, and modern approaches to health. Terrence Gore will reflect on how Bartram’s Garden has influenced his artwork and his personal healing journey. Lady Danni will share insight into the medicinal and practical uses of plants found in our own backyards and public green spaces. Dr. Burton will bring a medical perspective to the conversation\, connecting the body\, wellness\, and integrative approaches to care.\nFollowing the panel\, guests will be invited to continue the conversation outdoors with a guided plant tour of Bartram’s Garden\, looking at the landscape through the lens of healing\, history\, and discovery. Light refreshments will be served. \nACCESSIBILITY – This event will take place in the Barn\, an indoor space that is accessible via wheelchair. It is about a 2-minute walk from the main Visitor Parking Loop\, ADA-accessible on a paved path at a slight incline. Gendered\, multi-stall public restrooms and all-gender single restrooms\, both ADA-accessible\, are about a two-minute walk away.\nWe’re happy to make accommodations for guests with mobility limitations. Large portions of our 50+ acre botanical garden can be explored via wheelchair\, though some of our paths should be used at your own discretion. If you have questions or concerns\, don’t hesitate to reach out ahead of time to info@bartramsgarden.org.\nFor more information about planning your visit\, see bartramsgarden.org/visit

SUMMARY:Remembered Objects in Paper Mache (Spring 2)
DESCRIPTION:Class Description:\nHave you ever lost something special or maybe something special has lost its use? Your best winter hat? Your favorite VHS tape? We’re going to reference our own mental images of our remembered objects as we recreate them in paper mache. \nThis will be fun and fairly easy for all skill levels\, with a few challenging moments. Ages 5-105 would be able to handle this medium. \nStudents will sculpt a generalized form in 3 dimensions. They will mix color using acrylic paint and use 2-D color\, line and shape to define and characterize the generalized 3-D form. \nStudents will gain a sculpture that stands in for a lost object. \nTeacher Info:\nBorn 1984 in New York\, NY\, Sophie White lives and works in Philadelphia\, PA. Since adolescence in a rapidly transforming NYC at the turn of the millennium\, she has made small\, cityscape paintings from observation of familiar places at various stages of becoming unfamiliar. Colorful sculptures and experimental sound and performance work sometimes accompany her paintings\, mimicking the environment in which they were made. She holds an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a BFA from the Cooper Union School of Art. In 2025 she was the subject of a solo exhibit at the Philadelphia International Airport\, participated in 11 group exhibitions in Philadelphia and New York and was a nominee for the Pew Fellowship. \nInstagram – @sophie6598\nWebsite – SophieCWhite.com

SUMMARY:The Mothership Art Market
DESCRIPTION:The Mothership Art Market is Montgomery County’s first queer-centered art market — an outdoor afternoon of local artists\, makers\, and small businesses set in the plaza at Hotel West & Main in Conshohocken.\nThis first market is small by design — a curated group of local queer and ally-owned makers\, kept intimate and intentional. Expect ceramics\, prints\, paintings\, handmade clothing\, plants\, accessories\, candles\, and more as the lineup rounds out.\nAttendees are invited to participate in a collaborative community art installation to be revealed at the event — so you have to come to find out! And please do bring your creative thumb.\nDrinks will be available for purchase at the bar just off the plaza at Hotel West & Main’s 1874 Social. Sip on something cold\, wander at your own pace\, and spend a few hours getting to know your community’s local creatives.\nFree and open to everyone — no ticket purchase required\, just an RSVP on eventbrite so we know you’re coming: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-mothership-art-market-tickets-1993151500793

SUMMARY:Invisible Forces
DESCRIPTION:KATE GRAVES\nINVISIBLE FORCES\nARTWORKS 19 Everett Alley\, Trenton NJ 08611 (609) 394-9436\nExhibition August 29 – September 4\, 2026 I Gallery open Tues-Sat 11-6\nReception August 29\, 4:00pm – 10:00pm with special musical guests\nCentral Jersey Safari performing their new album “Gettin’ Home from Tucson” (8-9pm)\nDATA_WOLF Andrew Wilkinson’s ambient electronic music (6-7pm)\nWPRB DJ spinning records (4-6pm)\nSpecial appearance by TCAT Art Cart\nA one-week exhibit featuring new\, large-format watercolor paintings by local artist Kate Graves.\nPhotographs taken by Caleb Ray Walker during his 2025 cross-country bicycle trip of desert\nlandscapes\, dirt roads\, and vast expanses are evocative and inspiring jumping-off points for this\nseries. Slow development while interpreting each landscape is what makes each painting\ncompelling. Where a photograph can crisply preserve a fleeting moment\, these paintings allude\nto invisible cycles of entropy because of the way they are made. Layers of granulated pigment\nare built up and held in suspension by water sourced directly from snow. As each layer settles\, it\nbrings unique combinations of color and texture that reveal a hidden dimension of time to the\nwork. In this way\, each painting is a time-travel device that transports the viewer into a realm\nbetween vision and imagination.\nThe presence of music is imbued in these new works. Bruce Chatwin’s book “The Songlines”\nreveals how Aboriginal people navigate through landscapes: by singing them. Features\nimportant to wayfinding are part of the song. We are learning more about how closely linked\nmusic is to memory\, a direct line through time to different places. Listening\, and the very new\ntechnology of recording\, music supports and informs our efforts to find our way in the world.\nA set of songs composed by Caleb during his expedition will be performed by local all-star band\nCentral Jersey Safari at the opening reception. A limited edition vinyl recording\, featuring\nGraves’ watercolor “Clouds” as the album cover art\, will be available for purchase. There is no\ncover fee for the performance\, and donations will be accepted for the musicians.\nDATA_WOLF is the recording name of Andrew Wilkinson\, a New Jersey-based composer\,\nproducer\, and visual artist working across ambient\, drone\, and electroacoustic music for film\,\ntelevision\, and screen. Built from analog synthesizers\, drum machines\, and field recordings\, his\nwork is sample-free\, stems-available\, and tailored for sync placement in thriller\, true crime\,\nhorror atmosphere\, sci-fi\, and documentary underscore. His catalog spans the long-running Drones series alongside standalone releases — AXIS\,\nShipwrecker\, Beltane\, The Holly King\, and QWERTY\, Was That You? — and includes an\noriginal score for the podcast Folklore\, Myths and Legends of Great Britain. The work draws its\nconnecting thread from composers like Vangelis and Angelo Badalamenti: isolation\, liminality\,\nand suspended time rendered in slow-moving\, textural sound.\nWebsite: https://www.datawolf.net/ | Instagram: @datawolf | www.youtube.com/@datawolf\nyoutube.com/@CentralJerseySafari
