SUMMARY:Human / Nature
DESCRIPTION:Gravers Lane Gallery \n8405 Germantown Avenue \nPhiladelphia | PA 19118 \n215-247-1603 \nOpening reception: June 5 | 5 – 8 pm\nArtist Talks: June 5 | 6:30 pm\nClosing reception: July 3 | 5 – 8 pm\nArtist Talks: July 3 | 6:30 pm \nGravers Lane Gallery welcomes the remarkable work of Painter / Sculptor Ron Isaacs. Renowned Kentucky-based artist and teacher with a career spanning over 50 years\, Isaacs’s work has been exhibited in major galleries in Chicago\, Philadelphia\, and New York\, with work residing in multiple private and corporate collections. Currently\, the largest public collection is housed in the Racine Museum of Art in Wisconsin. \nBy using objects such as garments\, tools\, and organic materials\, Isaacs explores the narrative of objects and their relation to mortality\, memory\, and the passage of time. Through the process of creating an installation with objects in a still-life setting\, Isaacs experiments with birch\, plywood\, and acrylic paint to construct his work. \nAs a trained painter\, Isaacs employs techniques similar to those of the old masters to create a composition reminiscent of traditional two-dimensional work. By balancing form\, texture\, and light\, Isaacs’ work explores the elements of memory\, the passage of time\, and how objects can evoke memory.

SUMMARY:Room For Grief
DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \n[PHILADELPHIA\, PA]— Room For Grief – Living with Loss in America — An immersive and interactive group art show featuring 100+ artists and performers unified by experiences of bereavement. \nIn a country built upon death and loss\, the space to grieve is alarmingly absent. Our society leaves little physical or existential room for us to experience let alone process loss. This project points directly at this omission by making literal Room For Grief – dedicated\, intentional space where these themes are expressed\, witnessed and held in community. \nGuests are invited to walk through the rooms of a house built by grief\, woven together with the art that has helped us survive. Let our robust and diverse group of contributors show you what it is like to live\, heal\, struggle\, cope and offer sanctuary for mourning at a time where the burden of grief in daily life is overwhelming. Join us as we grieve death\, identity\, health\, security\, safety\, freedom\, democracy\, the fulfillment of promises that were made to us generationally. Together we hold up the walls to create Room For Grief.  \n\nRoom for Grief comes alive with an opening reception on June 4th and is laid to rest at the closing reception on June 28th\nThe exhibition will be hosted at the historic Cherry Street Pier along the Delaware River – a beautiful and peaceful place to explore grief and be in community with other grievers\, also mere blocks from Old City and the heart of the semisesquicentennial.\nOur lovingly curated events lineup includes a Death Cafe\, Beyond Loss Film Series\, a performance in The Garden\, spoken word and song performances\, Grief Survival support\, and more!\n\nCall to Action: Join us in the Room for Grief this June. Visit the immersive installation\, meet the artists\, attend a robust lineup of events curated to support\, uplift\, and inspire grievers of all types and from all walks of life. SUMMARY:Bourbon! The Whiskey Tasting Class
DESCRIPTION:Bourbon! is a tour-de-force of one of our favorite drinks. Learn how it’s made\, what makes for a great bourbon\, and some brands to look out for while tasting some fantastic examples. A generation ago\, they called it brown liquor. Now\, we call it the angel’s share.   Do you know what all great liquor has in common? They are aged for many years –sometimes decades– in charred white oak barrels. \nBarrel-aged booze is what this class is about. This is the class for boozehounds looking for the next great experience. From Tennessee Bourbon to Philly-made Bourbon\, you will learn about (and taste) a fantastic selection of barrel-aged booze. This class features some of our favorite bourbons but includes a how-to to make great cocktails. We’ll even show you how to turn white spirits into your signature whiskey.
