Strum, Strike, Bend with Third Coast Percussion

The Swarthmore College Music Department and the William J. Cooper Foundation presents Strum, Strike, Bend with Third Coast Percussion at Swarthmore College, featuring Simone Porter. The concert will take place Saturday, February 7 at 8pm in the Lang Concert Hall on Swarthmore College campus. 

GRAMMY® Award-winning ensemble Third Coast Percussion (TCP) showcases a dynamic program, including Lady Justice, a new work composed by Jessie Montgomery specifically for TCP that draws a vast universe of sounds out of a compact set of instruments. Lou Harrison’s Concerto for Violin with Percussion Orchestra (featuring soloist Simone Porter) is a tour de force that draws inspiration from the vibrant sounds of Javanese gamelan. This program also features captivating works by Armenian jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan and recent Pulitzer-finalist and frequent TCP collaborator Jlin.
