Philadelphia’s Masonic Temple Offering French Tours and Hosting Elegant Dinner for Gen. Marquis de Lafayette’s Bicentennial This Month
September 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
I am writing about a partnership between Philadelphia’s Masonic Temple, the Alliance Française de Philadelphia and The American Friends of Lafayette organizations. We were hoping you might potentially be interested in writing about Gen. Marquis de Lafayette’s bicentennial in Philadelphia this month and the series of events being celebrated in Philadelphia and across the country.
Gen. Lafayette is well known as an American Revolutionary War hero, but a less known fact is he was also a Freemason. The Masonic Temple has paired with the Alliance Francaise de Philadelphia and The American Friends of Lafayette to offer French speaking guided tours of the Temple – including an exhibition showcasing written correspondence by Lafayette and other artifacts from the museum collection – on Sept. 19 and 27, from 6 – 7 p.m.
In addition, The American Friends of Lafayette will host an elegant Lafayette soiree at the Masonic Temple on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. This event, which is open to the public, will feature 19th century elegance, including musicians playing period pieces and 19th century dancing.
