DETAILS: The Women’s Lacrosse League will join Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, state and community leaders, local professional players, and youth for a kickoff event marking the final countdown to the inaugural WLL Championship on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Subaru Park.
The event will highlight Philadelphia’s role as a center of women’s lacrosse and outline efforts to engage families, nonprofit organizations and community programs throughout the city and across Pennsylvania ahead of the championship.
Remarks will be followed by a media Q&A with Mayor Parker, WLL leadership, community leaders and professional players.
The event will include a lacrosse wall ball demonstration outside of Dock Street South.
A small luncheon and community discussion will immediately follow, bringing together local leaders and organizations to discuss how to mobilize the community during the final two weeks leading into the championship.
The event will be held at Dock Street South, a women-owned Philadelphia brewery.
The inaugural WLL Championship will bring the league’s top teams to Subaru Park on Aug. 15, marking the culmination of the WLL’s first full regular season.
