Join us for a special screening of “Eyes of the Rainbow” on Sunday, February 23rd, at the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP). This powerful documentary highlights Assata Shakur’s remarkable journey 33 years after her exile from the United States.
This event is presented in partnership with the Philly Black Worker Project (PBWP), a community-oriented organization focused on uplifting Black workers and fostering dialogue around economic justice.
Following the film, there will be an engaging Q&A session with Gloria Rolando, offering a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the film’s themes and the experiences that shaped its creation. Gloria Rolando is a Cuban filmmaker and screenwriter. Her career as a director spans more than 35 years at the Cuban national film institute Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (ICAIC), and she heads Imágenes del Caribe, an independent film-making group. Her films characteristically document the history of people of the African diaspora.
Don’t miss this chance to connect with the community, gain insight into important cultural narratives, and participate in a meaningful conversation about the intersections of art and activism. We look forward to seeing you there!
