Headline- We Love Philly’s “158 Miles for Act 158” Bicycle Fundraiser to Raise Awareness around Changing Graduation Laws

We Love Philly, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities, is thrilled to announce its upcoming fundraising event, “158 Miles for Act 158.” This ambitious and inspiring initiative aims to raise awareness and funds for Act 158, a crucial bill aimed at improving educational opportunities for children across the state. While Act 158 can be seen as a way to innovate the current educational system, it currently puts half of the teenage population in Philadelphia at risk of not receiving a high school diploma.

Taking place from August 17th to August 20th “158 Miles for Act 158” will see a group of passionate We Love Philly supporters and youth embark on an epic journey covering a staggering 158 miles across the beautiful landscapes of Philadelphia, Norristown, Phoenixville, Reading, Lebanon, and Harrisburg. This endurance ride represents not only the physical challenge faced by many children in accessing quality education but also symbolizes the determination and commitment needed to overcome these obstacles.

We Love Philly’s “158 Miles for Act 158” bicycle fundraiser aims to raise $158,000 to support the organizations pre apprenticeship and apprenticeship initiatives that aim to ensure young people graduate high school and have pathways towards livable wage careers. We encourage all individuals and organizations who believe in the power of education to join us in this critical endeavor.

“We are thrilled to launch the ‘158 Miles for Act 158’ fundraiser, and we hope this event will ignite a spark of change and inspire others to get involved,” said Carlos Aponte, the founder and Executive Director for We Love Philly. “By coming together as a community, we can break down barriers and ensure that every child has an equal chance to succeed in school and in life.”

Along the ride We Love Philly supporters plan on stopping in Norristown, Reading, Lebanon, and Harrisburg to volunteer and run workshops with community based nonprofits to help them pivot and provide support to meet the changing graduation requirement needs.

The event will kick off at the home of We Love Philly, One Art Community Center at 11AM on August 17th and will culminate in a grand celebration at Harrisburg Beach Club on August 20th. Spectators are invited to join the festivities, show their support, volunteer, and cheer on the dedicated cyclists as they cross the finish line.

We Love Philly encourages both individual and corporate sponsorships to help reach the ambitious fundraising goal. By participating as a sponsor, organizations can align their brand with a noble cause and contribute to a brighter future for the next generation.
