Chinatown is Hosting Their Inaugural Summer Festival Featuring Over 35 Vendors and a Bonchon Chicken Eating Contest
After hosting a successful Night Market in which over 20,000 attendees showed up and USA ranking it #5 Best Cultural Festival in country, Chinatown now looks to host their first ever Summer Festival this month.
On Saturday July 20th from 1pm to 7 pm, Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC) will host their inaugural Summer Festival featuring over 35 vendors, live entertainment and a special Bonchon chicken eating contest.
The Bonchon chicken eating challenge will take place at 2 pm at the Chinatown Friendship Gate. Contestants will go head-to-head to see who can eat five chicken drumsticks the fastest for a chance to win prizes including a trophy and $150 Bonchon gift card for the winner, medal and $50 gift card for round winners, and each contestant receives a t-shirt. Entry is $15 and can be done at Chinatown-pcdc.org
“Our goal is to create an opportunity for the Chinatown community to come together and enjoy the summer, for visitors to discover what Chinatown has to offer, and for our businesses to benefit from the increased foot traffic this event will bring. It’s a chance for residents and visitors alike to experience the rich cultural heritage of Chinatown, support local businesses, and enjoy the lively atmosphere that makes our neighborhood unique,” stated PCDC Commercial Corridor Manager Haoyi Shang.
