Chestnut Hill’s Home & Garden Festival Returns With Over 150 Vendors, Live Music and Entertainment

Philadelphia’s Urban Village springs to life Sunday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the highly-anticipated Home & Garden Festival. The Festival features over 150 vendors set up along the 7700 to 8600 blocks of Germantown Avenue, which will be closed to vehicular traffic. The all-day, family-friendly event will highlight home décor, outdoor demonstrations, live music, children’s activities, and over 200 retailers, restaurants, and businesses within the Chestnut Hill Business District.

This year’s vendors will feature garden ornaments and statues, heirloom vegetable plants, jewelry, vintage goods and collectibles, beekeeping, flower baskets, terrariums, landscaping, lawn and tree care, and masonry.

2022 Home & Garden Festival Schedule of Events:

Sustainability Hub (8100 block of Germantown Avenue): New for 2022, a specialty area focused on sustainability in Philadelphia featuring individuals, makers, and organizations. Christa Barfield (@Farmer JawnPhilly) and Terril Haigler (@_YaFavTrashman) will lead sessions on
activism and innovation. Green-friendly companies, including Green Philly, Grid, and Circular Philly, will have products for purchase.

• “Fun Fest” at Jenks Elementary School (8301 Germantown Avenue): A family-friendly focused area for children under 10 with:
o Face painting
o Inflatable obstacle course
o Inflatable slide
o Line dancing

 

Stagecrafters Theater (8130 Germantown Avenue): Enjoy circus-themed and theatrical performances, including:

o Stiltwalker (Philadelphia School of the Circus Arts) 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
o Juggler (Philadelphia School of the Circus Arts) noon to 2 p.m.
o Balloon artist (Ben’s Balloon Animals) 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
o Jack and the Bean Stalk (adapted by Jessie Sherlock and performed by Mark and
Jessie Sherlock). Performances will take place every hour from 1 to 3 p.m.
o Tarot card readings by The Amazing Carson from 2 to 4 p.m.

 

LIVE MUSIC

o Corner of Germantown and Hartwell Avenues
▪ Hank’s Cadillac from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
▪ 56 Men from 2 to 5 p.m.
o Corner of Germantown and Bethlehem Avenues
▪ Variable Elements from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
▪ Jon Savage & the Classic Rockers from 2 to 5 p.m.

Children’s Activities at Villavillekula (8419 Germantown Avenue): Children can interact with flower-themed activities throughout the day, including Maypole dancing.

 

Used Book Sale: Friends of the Chestnut Hill Library and Hilltop Books will sell used books at three locations throughout the Home & Garden Festival.
