Calling All Artists: Fishtown is Looking For Artist to Help Design Their Signature Fish Head Trashcans

If you ever been through Fishtown then chances are you’ve noticed their artsy trashcans with the painted fish heads.  Well it looks like they’re giving more artists an opportunity to be apart of their “Feed the Fish” art and anti-litter initiative.

Feed the Fish, A Fishtown District & FNA anti-litter public arts project supported by Penn Treaty Special Services District is a public art project is designed to foster community collaboration to unlitter the neighborhood. The goal is to bring together local artists, civic communities, and the local business community.

In 2014, artists created 20 fish head trash cans, which you might have seen throughout Fishtown. This fall, Fishtown District is teaming up with FNA to expand this program. They are now are looking for 15 new designs for the fiberglass fish heads that will line the busy Fishtown corridors of Frankford Ave, Girard Ave, and Front Street.  The deadline to submit is January 28th and if selected artists will be given fish heads by February 4th to complete by March 15th.  To submit email designs to kae@fishtownbid.org or  Click here/
