Artisan Gelato Makers, Cloud Cups & Love City Brewery are Hosting a Release Party For Their New Beer Collab “Super Lemon Haze”

If you love gelato then chances are you are already hip to Cloud Cups Artisan Gelato & Sorbet  ( 3525 I St.).  Ranked #41 in world for best gelato in the country by the Today Show, Cloud Cups has been making a name for itself with its array of unique flavors including banana pudding, red velvet cheeses cake, cinnamon sugar pop tart, and many more. However, it’s their staple lemon flavor that has now been spun into a beer “Super Lemon Haze IPA”  thanks to a collaboration with Philly-based Love City Brewing.

To celebrate their collaboration, Love City Brewing will be hosting a release party on Sunday August 25th from 1-4 pm. Guests will get to enjoy music from DJ @sondaeblue and for those looking for the ultimate tasting, there will also be beer floats made with Cloud Cups lemon gelato and Super Lemon Haze IPA.

So how did this collab come about? Well, the two actually came up with the concept of this unique IPA to present at the Barrel & Flow which is a festival that is held for Black brewers in Pittsburgh. Barrel & Flow was also voted the #1 Brew Fest in America two years in a row by USA Today.

“I had already wanted to get into the beer space and have talked about it with a friend in D.C then Love City reached out to me. So it was like fate,” states Coud Cups owner Galen Thomas.  “Love City also expressed interest in being a apart of Barrel & Flow so it was perfect timing. I was very hands-on with the process and selected the ingredients as well as participated in tastings.  Working with Love City was a great experience, the whole team is super chill and it felt like a family atmosphere,” Galen added.

The Super Lemon Haze IPA will be a limited release for now. However, depending on the reception it gets, Galen and the Love City team will look to possibly bring it back as a seasonal beer.
