After 11 Years, Mad River in Manayunk Closes Its Doors Due to The Coronavirus
The house recently passed a second round of stimulus relief but the measure will be little too late. As more and more businesses continue to fail the impact hits closest to home when it’s tied to nostalgia. For the past 11 years Mad River in Manayunk has been a place where scores of locals have created memories, some good some bad but memories nonetheless. Now Mad River in Mayaunk closes its doors for good.
The closure is due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has wreaked havoc globally as brick and mortar stores struggle to pay rent and take care of staff.
In a Facebook post Mad River General Manager Jamie Powell stated “Welp. With a heavy heart, it’s time to announce the ol’ Riv won’t make it thru this mess (I truly hope this doesn’t start a string of these announcements),” He went on to post. “There are so many rumors out there but the biggest truth of all is that Manayunk is just a different town anymore as far as nightlife goes,” Powell said. “We decided as a squad it was just time to cash em in. No one should hang their head, a place like ours had no business making it ELEVEN YEARS. It’s wild and honestly impressive.”
Well Jamie the fact of the matter is nightlife everywhere will never be the same. So we’ll raise our glasses in our living rooms and toast to the good times Mad River Manayunk has brought us. Had we known the last call was going to be the last call, we would’ve drank a little more. Thank you.
