The Franklin Institute is in full holiday mode with their upcoming Science After Hours “Flannel & Frost” edition.  Known for their themes, Science After Hours allows guests 21+ to tour the museum and enjoy a unique experience each time.   This month’s Flannel & Frost event will take place on Friday December 9th from 7:30 pm-11:30 pm and will feature an array of entertainment, science demonstrations and of course booze.

Guests will be able to warm up with  hot chocolate and gather in the Campfire Lounge, aka The Fels Planetarium, where Chief Astronomer and master storyteller, Derrick Pitts, will be joined by musician Keegan Tawa as they take you on a trip through the cosmos for the stories of the stars.

Other feature programming includes:

  • Drag Bingo with the diva herself, Sapphira Cristál, as she performs and hosts
  • Get toasty with musical performances by Magdaliz and her Latin Ensemble Crisol.
  • Be dazzled by the ethereal aerial performances by The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts.
  • Connect with those not near, with the help of Philly Typewriter and their collection of operable vintage typewriters.
  • Enjoy plenty of photo opportunities, including in front a 25-foot-tall celestial tree.
  • Meet makers and NextFab Members to learn the science behind their craft, including Machelle Nettles of Idol Light (Jewelry), Jessica Joy London (Immersive paintings), and Steve Pellegrino of Pellegrino Cutlery (Bladesmith).
  • Enjoy some hot and cold demos with our Fire and Ice Live Shows.
  • Compete for prizes and test your critical thinking and spatial reasoning skills with tinker and build challenges.

Tickets are $40 per person in advance, $45 at the door and $35 for member. Tickets include evening access to all The Franklin Institute’s core exhibits and galleries including the Franklin Frost spaces. Limited Edition lapel pins were also created exclusively for the event.
