Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park Is Closing Out Its Season With a Free Halloween Party: Music, Adventurous Tastings and More
The Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park will close out its season on Saturday, October 31, with a day of free Halloween activities. Halloween is the market’s last Saturday of the season, and organizers are marking it with all-day trick-or-treating, DJs, a Balinese gamelan workshop, face painting and “Adventurous Tastings” from Vientiane Bistro.
The Schedule
- All day | Trick-or-treating: Courtesy of the SEA Market vendors, with additional candy from Credable Auto Glass.
- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Balinese gamelan with Pemuda Gapura: Youth group Pemuda Gapura (@gapuraphilly) leads a hands-on workshop on Balinese gamelan and other Indonesian instruments. No experience is needed, just curiosity.
- 12:30 to 6 p.m. | Music by DJ Johnye and DJ KB: Two of Philadelphia’s tastemaker DJs, @djjohnye and @djkb, team up to keep the party going, mixing favorite songs, some Filipino and Khmer oldies and, in organizers’ words, “immaculate vibes.”
- 1 to 3 p.m. | Fabulous Faces face painting: Face painting for the whole family.
- 3 to 5 p.m. | “Adventurous Tastings” by Vientiane Bistro: @vientianebistro brings what organizers call “Philly’s most daring food tradition” to the market, inviting guests to “step outside your comfort zone and see if your palate is truly fearless.” The tastings are free while ingredients last.
A Thank-You
Organizers thank Friends of FDR Park, whose “full support made this entire day possible.”
