The Force Comes to Philadelphia: Star Wars™: The Experience Makes Its World Premiere at The Franklin Institute
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away — but this time, you can see it right here in Philadelphia. The Franklin Institute has announced the world premiere of Star Wars™: The Experience — A Journey Through the Galaxy, opening on February 13, 2027, and Philadelphia is the only place on Earth to see it first.
Timed to coincide with the Star Wars 50th Anniversary celebration, this is not a traveling exhibition that’s made stops elsewhere — this is the global debut, created by The Franklin Institute in collaboration with MDSX, Lucasfilm, and Disney Consumer Products. It is, by every measure, the largest and most comprehensive behind-the-scenes Star Wars exhibition ever created.
Spanning 18,000 square feet of visually rich, interconnected galleries, the exhibition takes fans on an epic journey through the full Star Wars legacy — from the original trilogy that launched a cultural phenomenon in 1977 to the latest films in the saga. Expect large-scale immersive environments, screen-used props and original costumes, and an RFID-powered interactive experience that makes each visit uniquely personal and cinematic.
Whether you’ve been a fan since the Millennium Falcon first made the Kessel Run or you’re just discovering the Force for the first time, this exhibition is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
“Philadelphia is the only place on Earth to see it first” isn’t just a marketing line — it’s a genuine once-in-a-generation cultural moment for the city, the kind of exhibition that draws visitors from around the world and cements The Franklin Institute’s reputation as one of America’s premier science and culture destinations.
Star Wars™: The Experience opens February 13, 2027 at The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia. Tickets and further details to be announced — but if the Force is telling you to plan ahead, you should probably listen.
