Philadelphia Native Designs Historic WBC Championship Ring for Canelo vs. Crawford Bout
When Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford step into the ring at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for their highly anticipated undisputed super middleweight title clash, they’ll be fighting not just for glory — but also for a piece of history with deep Philadelphia roots.
This week, the World Boxing Council (WBC) unveiled its first-ever WBC Crown Series Undisputed Championship Ring, a striking piece of jewelry designed by Philly native Rasheen Farlow, the WBC’s Strategic Partner for Global Brand Strategy & Cultural Partnerships.
Crafted by luxury jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills from Farlow’s original concept, the one-of-one ring features nearly 10 carats of stones set in yellow gold, including 8.5 carats of white diamonds, and is valued at over $100,000. A collection of green stones symbolizes the WBC’s iconic green belt, while four colored stones represent the sport’s major sanctioning bodies — the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO.
“It was important that the design carried storytelling at every level,” said Farlow. “We honored the WBC’s legendary green belt, reflected the grandeur of Allegiant Stadium, and paid respect to Ring Magazine’s historic place in boxing culture.”
Farlow explained that his creative anchor came from the concept of the Infinity Stones, each representing power, rarity, and destiny — mirroring how unifying all four belts represents ultimate achievement in boxing.
Farlow, a longtime figure in sports, music, and fashion marketing, had never designed fine jewelry before. He conceived the piece and built the partnership from the ground up, connecting with Jason of Beverly Hills through his childhood friend, artist Al-Baseer Holly.
“As a proud Philadelphian, I knew there was only one jeweler who could bring this vision to life,” Farlow said, noting Jason of Beverly Hills’ history of designing championship pieces — including the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl rings.
He also credited WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán and the WBC leadership team for championing the concept and allowing him to transform a piece of jewelry into a historic cultural artifact.
For Farlow, the ring represents more than just one night in Las Vegas.
“This is a landmark moment not only in my career but in the history of boxing,” he said. “This isn’t just a ring — it’s a legacy piece, a cultural monument that will outlive fight night and stand as proof of what happens when heritage and innovation are fused at the highest level.”
While he declined to predict a winner between Álvarez and Crawford out of respect for both fighters, Farlow emphasized that the magnitude of the bout made it the perfect stage to debut the ring:
“This fight will be remembered as one of the defining moments in boxing history, and the fact that this championship ring will forever be tied to it makes it even more meaningful.”
