What’s Hot This Weekend: Hot Food And Even Hotter Dance Moves

This weekend is going to be hot… and I’m not talking about the temperature!!! Check out the hottest things happening in Philly this weekend.

Friday night head on over to the Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons (1001 N 2nd St) for a free Salsa Night at the Commons. Start the night off with a free lesson at 7:00pm from the Philadelphia Dance Foundation, then strut your new moves on the dance floor from 7:30-10:00pm. Saturday afternoon head to Uptown Beer Garden Uptown Beer Garden (1735 JFK Boulevard) and have a few brews and some BBQ with local cult favorite brewery, Carton Brewing. From 2:00pm until Midnight, they will be taking over the taps featuring 10 oz Carton Brewing beers like Rickey (a “Gin Rickey” sour) and Rub (a “Dry Rub” Porter) for $7.00 as well as Half Acre Beer Company drafts for $5.00. If day drinking makes you hungry, don’t worry they’ve got you covered. Check out grilled specials like spare ribs, chili dogs and smoked brisket. This Sunday Funday is packed with things to do. If you love spice, then you’ll probably want to head to the Philadelphia Jerk Festival (Fairmount Park on Chamounix Drive). From 3:00pm-10:00pm, you’ll enjoy live entertainment, an outdoor stage, kids zone, costumed walkabouts, face paintings, souvenirs, arts, crafts and of course lots of mouth-watering authentic jerk cuisine. After you fill up on delicious Caribbean food and jammin’ beats, work it off at the Blue Cross RiverRink. Join them as they celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday with an MJ-themed skating party! Skate to the best of MJ all night long.
