TOP 10 THINGS TO DO AT THE PHILLY HOME SHOW Jan. 13-16th & Jan. 20-22nd

Whether you’re a homeowner, contractor, interior decorator or just love everything about homes, the Philly Home Show is coming to town.  One of the biggest conventions of the year, The Home Show, has everything you need to get your fix.  From live demonstrations and seminars, to meet & greats, activities and more.  To help you maneuver through this year’s show we put together a list of the top 10 things to do at the Philly Home Show.  Enjoy!

 

1. Rub Elbows with Design Celebs
Vern Yip, star of TLC’s Trading Spaces, NBC’s Home Intervention and one of TV’s most recognizable designers, and Matt Muenster, licensed contractor and host of HGTV’s Bath Crashers, will share their behind the scenes experiences not only as TV stars, but as creative designers and contractors hoping to inspire your next project. Matt will appear daily from Jan. 13-15, and Vern will be appear on Friday, Jan. 19, and Saturday, Jan. 20.
 

 

2. Fifth Annual Habitat For Humanity Upcycle Challenge
The Philly Home Show partners with the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to turn a simple wood pallet into a statement piece to wow any visitor to your home. Cast your vote and get some inspiration for your next upcycle project.
 

 

3. Designing for all 5 Senses
Philly Home Show designers Tommi Mischell and Denise Sabia have styled and outfitted two uniquely designed rooms that are made to providing a full sensory experience, tickling each one of your five senses.  Where is the intersection of sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste?  Allow Tommi and Denise to show you. 
 

 

4. Make-It, Take-It
Local craft and DIY bloggers are breaking into the New Year with new projects designed for the Make-It, Take-It sessions scheduled throughout the show. Take a peek at the workshop schedule to sign up and learn some new craft tricks, or to just let your creativity flow with other crafters at this popular show attraction.  
 

 

5. High-Tech or No-Tech?
Does technology have a place in your home or do you prefer to live off the grid? At the “Live a More Sustainable Life @ Home with IKEA” display, check out these high-tech and no-tech ways of life with two sustainable designs. Whether you love or hate technology, you’ll find design inspiration here.
 

 

6. How-to Guides Live on Stage!
In addition to our celebrities, the main stage will host a series of presentations from home experts. Presentation topics range from “Preparing for and Living Through Your Remodel” to “Organizing Before Your Move” to “How to DIY Green.” View the full schedule here.
 

 

7. The Crafts-woman-ship of 6abc
The right statement piece can take a room from bland to grand in one simple step, and Theresa Clement, blogger and designer behind My Fix-It-Up-Life, teamed up with 6abc’s FYI Philly team to use power tools to create a statement piece work of art.  Theresa holds workshops to teach women how to work with power tools in a confortable space for learning, and says there is no reason you can’t turn your latest Pinterest post into a project!  The statement piece created by the FYI Philly crew will be on display at the Philly Home Show, come take a look!
 

 

8. Honoring our Heroes 
We will honor our local hero’s on Monday, January 16 (MLK Day). All retired and active military, nurses, first responders, fire fighters and teachers will receive one free ticket with identification. 
 

 

9. Talk with Exhibitors
The show will feature more than 300 exhibitors sharing products, services and expertise to help you with all of your home projects from plumbing, electric, painting and closets to patios, basements, cabinetry and roofing – just to name a few! Check out the full list of vendors here to learn about how they can help you and where they’re located on the show floor.
 

 

10. Take Action
After a few hours of roaming the show floor, you’ll leave the Pennsylvania Convention Center with a bevy of ideas and inspiration for your home. Be sure to take the next step to make those dreams a reality.
