Mario Lanza, Angelo Dundee, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, & Eddie Lang are just a few of the slew of notable Italians that hale from Philly.  There’s no denying the deep roots and traditions that Italians have here in Philly. Heck they even have a whole neighborhood named after the famous Italian food corridor (Ialian Market).  So when it’s time time celebrate their heritage, there’s no festival more “Italian” or more authentic than La Festa.

Now in its 7th Year La Festa will take place Sunday June 4th from 11 am – 7 pm, the festival will stretch along 3 blocks from Broad to Moore on East Passyunk Ave.  The flavorful “Ave” will be lined with vendors presenting an assortment of food, crafts, specialty items, wine and beer. There will be 2 stages with sensational entertainment, along with plenty of family friendly activities. Each year La Festa draws an estimated 5,000 attendees. Curated by Filitalia International, proceeds from La Festa will go towards the first and only Italian Immigration Museum.  So not only will this be a fun filled evening but it’s all for a great cause.

The Spaghetti Eating Contest

The biggest draw will be the Spaghetti eating contest.  Hosted by Hall of Broadcaster and DJ, Bob Pantano the spaghetti eating contest will be a no holds bar contest to see who can scarf down the most Pastafico spaghetti.  If you know anything about the homemade pasta from this place then you know that even the losers are winning in this contest. For those looking to crown themselves the Don of spaghetti, email contact@metrospectevents.com (you’ll have to cough up a $5 entry free.) Just know that you’ll have some stiff competition going against the 5x champ, Marc Virga.
