New Puerto Rican Style Bar, Bar Bombón is Coming to Rittenhouse Square

Rittenhouse Square could definitely use a little Latino flare.  The closest thing they have going is Alma De Cuba and nothing screams authentic Latino dishes like the name Stephen Starr.  However, someone with actual Latino blood coursing through their veins is going to add another option to the mix.

Nicole Marquis who has both Puerto Rican and Venezuelan in her family is looking to open a new Puerto Rican style bar named Bar Bombón (which is a native term for candy).  Bar Bombón will be located at 133 S. 18th Street and will be more of a boutique bar accommodating  up to 10 people at the bar and 30 in the dining area.

If her name sounds familiar it’s because you more than likely either heard of her other eateries or at least tried them once.  Her biggest success has come in the form of Hip City Veg, a highly popular healthy eatery specializing in vegan, vegetarian and organic menu items.  Her latest creation Charlie Was a Sinner has become a favorite in the Mid-Town Village area of Center City.

Looking to keep the momentum going, Nicole’s Bar Bombón will offer healthy choices such as cold-pressed juices as well as vegan items including empanadas, arepas and of course a drinking person’s favorite food, tacos!

No exact date has been given for the grand opening but Nicole has stated she is aiming to start serving in a couple of weeks. We will definitely keep you posted when a firm date is set.
