Dine and Recline Movie Theater is Coming to the New Gallery!
I happen to have worked at the Gallery during its glory years (2000-2002). Even the top level of the mall was bustling with shoppers. Kiosks were flourishing and you had to search for an empty seat in the food court.
Those days are long gone. However, a new owners Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) and Santa Monica based Macerich are looking to bring those glory days and breath new life to what was the Mecca of center city.
For months the new project outlined an “outlet based” mall with fashion retailers galore. However, both owners have recently called an audible and shifted plans.
Now the new space will still be home to several retailers but more so big brands such as H&M and Burlington Coat Factory (who are there now). The big news however is the new proposed “dine and recline movie theater.” Now you don’t have to travel far to enjoy those plush theaters where you can lay back and enjoy real meals and not overpriced stale pretzel bites and popcorn saltier than sunflower seeds.
The new theater has yet to be named and no details of whether it’s affiliated with AMC or another chain has been disclosed. We will definitely keep you posted as more information surfaces.
