The Blue Cross RiverRink Opens With a Winter Beer Garden and Concert Series

The popular Blue Cross RiverRink located on Delaware Ave. has reopened and is better than ever.  Not to be outdone by the new rink located in Dillworth Plaza, Blue Cross RiverRink has added a few extra features to ensure its supremacy as the premier rink in Philadelphia.

Open 7 days a week from Nov. 28th through March 1st, Blue Cross RiverRink will now feature a winter wonderland park that will essentially be the winter version of the popular Spruce St. Harbor park that had people flocking to the riverside all summer long.  The new winterized riverfront park will  feature a Garces -operated bar and restaurant named The Lodge, a beer garden-style landscaping with a winter theme, a brand-new light show, a retail shopping from Art Star Gallery & Boutique and more. In addition to the new winter digs, the RiverRink will also feature a four-part concert series sponsored by WXPN.

Here are the events happening for opening weekend:

Friday Nov. 28th: Kick-off at 11 am, enjoy a visit from Elsa and Anna as well as a flower crown workshop, an ice sculpting display, pumpkin carving, a balloon artist and enjoy giveaways such as free hot chocolate samples from Dunkin Donuts.

Saturday Nov. 29th: Visitors will be able to enjoy custom ice sculptors including an ice slide and circus artists, face painting  for kids, and an appearance by strolling Mummers.

The festivities continue Saturday night with a Winterfest’s four-part music series sponsored by WXPN’s The Key, entitled the Fireside Sessions with hosts singer/songwriter Milton to play tunes by the fire.

Sunday Nov. 30th: To close out opening weekend, free programming continues with more circus artists, face painters and music from Mummers.
