Don’t let the t-shirt weather fool you, we are in the early stages of cuffing season.  That’s right, the time of year where you start narrowing down your dating pool to find that special someone to hunker down with during the winter months.  September is the early stages of cuffing season but the perfect time to start planning out dates and positioning yourself to seal the deal.

So for those looking to capitalize on cuffing season right now but may be are on a budget, we gotcha’ covered.  Luckily for you early fall is riddled with dope events and functions that will cost you little to no dough.   So break out your Google calendar and start scheduling these dates if you’re not looking to be dolo this cuffing season. Here are our 5 Cheap and Fun Date Ideas in Philly To Assist You With Cuffing Season

Movie Mondays @ The Trocadero

Aside from knocking boots, the main activity during cuffing season is movie watching.  When you’re snowed in with someone, movie marathons is the way to go.  However, the last thing you want to do is be barricaded with someone that has a terrible taste in movies.  To help alleviate this potential cuffing season disaster it’s best to start watching flicks now so that you know your movie compatible.  Traditional theaters can cost a grip so our suggestion would be to plan a date for the Trocadero’s Movie Monday series.  Each Monday The Troc features a throwback movie.  For penny pinchers you’ll be happy to know that entrance is only $3 a head and goes towards drinks and snacks.  Not only will you enjoy a great flick in a cool setting but you’ll be able to save some serious coin.

Lights & Flights @ Spruce St. Harbor Park

lights and fights

For this one you may want to get a move on.  Each Friday from now until the end of September Spruce Street Harbor Park hosts Lights and Flights.  This is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a great ambience at night.  The suspended neon lights, the waterfront views and the comfy hammocks are all complimented with specially priced flights of beers and frozen drinks.  This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some drinks and spark up some great convos.  Obviously the ability to carry a convo is important.  The last thing you want to do is roll through cuffing season talking to a doorknob.

Center City Restaurant Week

When it comes to Restaurant Week, you either hate it or love it.  However, for anyone looking to enjoy fine dining for a great deal, Restaurant Week is it.  This year Center City Restaurant Week runs from September 23 to October 5th.  Enjoy all the best cuisine and drinks the city has to offer and about half the price.  Of course your date will be hip to the fact that you’re booking reservations during Restaurant Week but I’m sure they’ll appreciate the fact that you’re at least putting in the effort.

Fall Festivals

There’s something about the crisp autumn air and craft beer that brings the perfect compliment to cuffing season.  Although many would think that summer is the best time for outdoor festivals, think again.  Hoodie season festivals are the best.  The best part is that most festivals are free to attend.  Enjoy festivals such as the Midtown Village’s Fall Fest, Old City Fest and The South Street Oktoberfest.  Both bring in large crowds and plenty of food and drinks to enjoy. It’s the ultimate pocket friendly date.

Night Market

Night Market is the premiere Philly foodie event.  Each month over the course of summer and early fall the best food trucks from the city gather at various locations.  The last Night Market for 2018 will take place in Point Breeze on October 4th.  If you happen to miss it, no worries because Chinatown has a Night Market of their very own. Either way you’ll be able to test the waters and see if you’re potential cuffing partner is “food compatible.”  You want to be able to know they aren’t going to be too picky with grub and able to help you tackle some wings when your order in this cuffing season.
